ailing on the Balearic Islands, with no permit, is legal, provided that your craft is shorter than five meters with a 15hp motor, if a motorboat, or six meters, if a sailing boat. To prepare to charter a bareboat, take part in one of the accredited RYA sailing schools such as Mallorca Sailing Academy, and sail a weeks worth of conditions under instruction from expert instructors, RYA courses in The Balearics are a proper mix of sailing in open water and coastal conditions, you get to experience open water or practice boat handling within harbours close to Palma.

The continuous sunlight makes the Balearics the perfect place learn to sail all year long. At around 120 nautical miles from the Coast of mainland Spain, the Balearic islands of Majorca, Minorca, and Ibiza provide an excellent year-round sailing destination. We organize various courses throughout the year in Palma, Mallorca, teaching you all of the navigational and boat handling skills that you will need. The lessons are available in modern sailing boats based out of Palma Harbour and help you to learn proper skills, as well as making some great memories and certification at the end.

We offer many RYA courses ranging from sailcraft for total beginners, through to becoming a skipper qualified and taking the controls of your own yacht or chartered vessel and for more experienced sailors the Coastal and Yachtmaster preparation. The RYAs five-day "Competent Crew" sailing course is perfect for beginners looking to be an active member of a crew and to understand more of the skills required for sailing. Those who have already sailed, or who have completed the RYA Levels 1 & 2 courses, will find our Competent Crew courses to be even more enjoyable or may wish to go direct to the Day Skipper practical, particularly if you have already done the Day Skipper theory.

The 5 day Day Skipper Practical is designed for individuals with some experience of yachting, and a basic understanding of navigation and sailing, that wish to take responsibility for themselves as skipper on shorter journeys.Potential Day Skippers will learn their trade on our modern yachts and experience first hand the real experience that sailing has to offer.
